Irkless vs Workflowy
A GTD system and an infinite canvas. One gives you structure, the other gives you freedom to build your own.
A note from us: Workflowy isn't technically a task manager—it's an outliner. But it's so brilliantly flexible that many people use it as one. We use it daily here. This isn't a typical competitor comparison; it's honest admiration with realistic caveats.
What We Have in Common
Both value speed and keyboard-driven workflows. Both believe software should get out of your way. Both attract people who think about how they think. More philosophical overlap here than with any other app on this list.
One is a task manager, the other is... everything. Here's where that matters:

Our Honest Take
We use Workflowy here, every day. But using it as a task manager is like using a Formula 1 car for the school run: technically possible, and you'll spend more time on the setup than the driving. The free tier caps at 100 new items per month, so serious use needs Pro at $9/month. If GTD is your methodology, you need due dates, start dates, recurring tasks, and a Logbook. Workflowy doesn't have those. Irkless does. Use both.
